NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Test)

 

National Eligibility and Entrance Test or NEET is the one examination which would be considered for filling about 54,000 medical seats across the country. As per the Supreme Court’s order in 2016, NEET would be the only examination to fill the All India Quota Seats as well as the State Level Quota seats across the country. This examination is also valid for applying to private colleges across the country.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2018 under graduate exam- NEET 2018 UG exam on 6th May 2018 (Sunday)

NEET Eligibility

 

  • The candidate must have completed 17 years of age as or on December 31, 2018
  • The candidate must have passed class 12th examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, and must have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually.
  • In respect of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in HSC examination is 40% marks.
  • The candidate applying for NEET must be an Indian citizen.
  • The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission through NEET is 25 years as or on December 31, 2018. Further, for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Categories there is a relaxation of 5 years.

Candidates failing to meet the above mentioned criteria shall not be permitted to apply for NEET 2018.

NEET Colleges

 

As per the orders of Honourable Supreme Court, there will be a single medical entrance exam all over India for admission into medical and dental colleges. The colleges will not be able to conduct their own medical entrance exam and thus all will accept students based on NEET Score. All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT), is now known as NEET. 


The total number of seats offered under NEET are 53,430 


NEET 2018 Exam Pattern

 

NEET 2018 exam will be conducted in a pen and paper based mode at various designated centres across the country. The exam will be held for 3 hours duration. Complete exam pattern of NEET 2018 is mentioned below:

Total – 180 Questions

Marking Scheme

  • For correct answer: +4 marks are given
  • For incorrect answer: -1 mark is deducted
